Now I may be the local Xenos Enjoyer and Chaos Dabbler but sometimes it's nice to just paint some Space Marines
They're the start of my Phobos Strike Team!
I love all my main factions and various assorted kill teams but hot damn is it nice to paint something bigger and chunkier without much trim
(That said my Warpcoven have been in progress for over a year now... should really get back on that...)
#warhammer 40000#space marines#phobos strike team#miniature painting#wh40k#i decided on paint scheme before chapter but yknow what?#they're close enough to space sharks

The inevitable has come to pass, Space Marine Heroes have been Primarisized. Or, more accurately, discontinued entirely in favor of the new range of Warhammer Heroes.
But at least they look cool!

Finally yeeting together a rough sketch of this month's bird OC(s). I wound up using a pair of identical twins for this one.
Phobos and Deimos Avadat are the youngest children of two high-ranking Talons named Cepheus (deceased) and Cassieopeia Avadat. They've got three older sibilngs: Hamlet (deceased), Monsoon and Andromeda (deceased). By the time the show starts, both of them are in their 40s.
Phobos was a commander of Cyclonia's cavalry division, often at the frontlines riding a pegasus into the thick of battle. Until a skirmish with the Rebel Ducks went seriously wrong and left him scarred and disabled (the picture above is pre-injury as I'm trying to pin down his base appeareance) about a year or two before the return of the Storm Hawks. Instead of retiring outright, he applied to transfer to the beastkeeper division, and now spends his time caring for the pegasus ranks and Cyclonia's other bestial numbers (occucrows, trackbeasts, etc.). It's allowed for him to be able to spend more time with his partner and children, but has severely disappointed his mother. He no longer cares, and some part of him blames her and the pressure she put on him to excel in the Talon ranks on his previous inability to bond with his children.
Deimos is just as, if not more successful than his twin. He's the leader of one of Cyclonia's specialist squadrons, the Fog Howlers. They're a strike team and one of the major players in the invasion and subsequent takeover of Merbia. He's still going strong and working to rise even further up the ranks of the Talon army. Far less laid-back than Phobos, he is of the opinion that Cyclonia's royal family has run its course, and the Empire is due for a change in leadership chosen by the people. He's not the only person with this opinion, and this insurrectionist group is known as the Disciples. Their choice in new ruler? Dark Ace. Phobos and Deimos's nephew.

Top 10 Best Polish DUBs part 2
6. The Ice Age franchise, similar to the Shrek and Madagascar franchises, seems to be way more popular and liked in Poland than in the USA. While the general sentiment in the US is that the first one is somewhat of an underrated classic and the best and every single one got only worse and worse. Meanwhile, in Poland, its sequels are held in much higher regard. Yet again, it's thanks to the funnier dialogue and much better voice actors. Sid became an iconic character just like Donkey from Shrek or King Julian from Madagascar, most likely thanks to the fantastic work of Cezary Pazura, an actor and voice actor who makes everything he's in so much better. Piotr Fronczewski as Diego is also great with his warm fatherly voice he sounds way more sincere. If Diego had the same voice in the English version he would have even more simps fans. Wojciech Malajkat is great as Manfred. He would later voice Puss in Boots from Shrek. As the franchise went on not only the quality of writing went downhill but also they started casting celebrities instead of the real VAs or even regular actors. Queen Latifah, Drake who was in like 5 minutes of a movie.
7. Winx Club is way better in Polish, in my opinion. I don't know if it's because their VAs aren't actual teenagers who don't have as much experience, or if they're adults trying to sound like teens and failing miserably, or if their voices are just that annoying. Whatever the case might be the Polish actors strike a great balance between sounding mature but youthful at the same time. Like teens that are on their way to becoming adults but still with some childish tendencies. Not a twelve-year-old trying to sound grown-up or a 40-something-year -old trying way too hard to be cool and hip with the kids. And Polish versions of the songs are amazing.
youtube
8. Totally Spies makes their heroins sound way more mature just like Winx Club. To not repeat myself let me tell you about something different, the dialogue changes. It's not censorship or completely changing the meaning of the dialogue but the vocabulary. In the show, they are very much Valley girls. In the Polish version, they still use slang that was (and still is) used in Poland at the time but they also were capable of using big words. Maybe English slang is more annoying, at least to me.
9. W.I.T.C.H. BLAH BLAH better and more mature voices BLAH BLAH better and funnier dialogue BLAH BLAH. What is worth mentioning are the voices of the male characters. Caleb's English VA doesn't fit him whatsoever. I know Greg Cipes sounds like that even as an adult but still. If Caleb looked like his comic version he would be fine but not when he looks like he is 18 or older. Imagine my shock after growing up with the Polish deep manly voices only to watch the English version and hear boys who haven't finished going through puberty yet. I've heard that the Polish language is sometimes referred to as snake language because of the ć, ś, ź, ż, sz, cz, and many other sounds, so Cedric's VA has a time to shine. English Phobos sounds more whiny than menacing.
10. Shark Tale is regarded as one of the worst animated movies ever both in terms of animation and the story. Highly exaggerated in my opinion. I mean it's not great but it's not Food Fight, Video Brinquedo, Animated Titanic, and many others. I think why it's not as hated by me and many other Poles it's thanks to its dubbing. I don't know if you know this, but there is a Polish comedy ''Kiler''. The whole plot of the movie is that the main character is mistaken for a killer. So, the Polish dubbing of Shark Tale is basically a parody of this movie. They even got Cezary Pazura (the guy playing Sid) who played the main guy in ''Kiler''. Instead of gay-lisped Jack Black we have Jarosław Boberek aka King Julian. Now that's a team-up better than the Avengers.
It was a surprisingly hard list to make, not because there are no great Polish dubbings but because there are so many good ones. Any movie or show could've been on the list. To make it easier I asked myself ''What Polish dubbings are better than the original?'' and ''What dubbings had the biggest impact on me but also on my country as a whole?''.
The reason why most of the list consists of shows and movies from the early 2000s is because that's when Poland had a little golden age. There were a bunch of great movies and shows coming out, so it was easy to strike gold. (And that's when I was born.) Now with all the trash coming out, it's way harder to do. The translators for ''Wish'' tried their best to fix those broken lyrics.
But nobody's perfect. I'm a firm believer that there is no terrible Polish dubbing but they still can make mistakes, questionable decisions, and voices that will make you switch the channel until they stop talking.
See you soon, in ''Top 10 worst Polish DUBs''.

WH40K Homebrew Space Marine Chapter: Stormwolves — September 2024 Update
(Yes, I know it's the First of October)
It's been about a month since the Agents of the Imperium Codex was published by Games Workshop. In late September, they issued their PDF of FAQs and Errata for the book. That means time for me to update the army list for my Homebrew Chapter (last posted about here). I will detail these updates under the cut.
I've also been working in Hero Forge on creating some more supporting characters, taking advantage of their new kitbashing feature.
For example, here's my take on a Voidmaster to lead a Voidsmen-At-Arms unit, as viewed through the lens of the "1st Selene Contingent" Rogue Trader's elite guard concept I'd come up with for my homebrew. I particularly like how the artificer-built mastercrafted shotgun turned out on this.
I feel the shotgun looks the part better than the one carried by the official GW mini for the equivalent character:
And here's a better look at the Hero Forge Kitbash-built Laspistol at her hip.
As for the new Errata document, unfortunately, it did not make the Corvus Blackstar a dedicated transport as it should have been. Also, it didn't even fix the obvious error that lets the Imperial Rhino transport any other model from the Imperial Agent Army Roster, not just the intended infantry, letting you stick other vehicles inside like a Russian Nesting Doll.
What the errata did change involves the limited number of units you can take when using Imperial Agents in other armies. There are different categories of units: Character/Retinue/Requisition, and you're very limited in how many of each that you can ally in to another force.
However, there were two Retinue Units that under the rules as originally published, didn't count against the limit if they were attached as Bodyguard to certain Character Units. This got changed so that you don't have to attach them any more.
This was nice, because I preferred to have my Rogue Trader attached to an Imperial Navy Breachers Bodyguard instead of just the free Voidsmen-At-Arms. But my previous Army List was already maxed out on Retinue Units, even with the Freebie.
So, Instead of using Deathwatch Kill Team (formerly Deathwatch Veterans pre-codex) to represent my "Control" command squad, I switched to using Sternguard to free up a Retinue Unit slot. This was an idea I'd considered before, but rejected since the current statblock is supposed to be for Primaris Sternguard and Control is supposed to be Firstborn.
However, Sternguard Marines existed years before GW introduced the Primaris, and they say if you have the older models just use the best statblock that fits, so I decided to just roll with it as is.
Sure, the current Sternguard statblock has a keyword that prevents them from riding in Rhinos and Razorbacks, but I'd taken their Rhino away in a previous army list revision anyway. Gave them a Repulsor Executioner instead. And switching to Sternguard let me give them as many Combi-Weapons as I wanted again, bringing them back to my original vision.
I also finally got a chance to look over the new update to the Boarding Actions Rules. While the Space Marines got three different Boarding Patrol options, I was disappointed that Phobos Armor was restricted to just one Patrol, and you couldn't just mix it with the other types.
But I found a loophole. The Boarding Strike Patrol list didn't prevent you from taking Phobos Armored characters. So I snuck one in.
I was also a bit disappointed to find that unlike the seemingly more freeform Boarding Actions rules from the beginning of 10E last year, the new rules expect you to stick to all Chapter specific restrictions if you include marines from any particular Chapter. This meant I could no longer put Apothecaries into a Space Wolves Boarding Patrol. But it wasn't worth it to even try anyways, as they took all the useful bits off the Apothecary when you use them in a Boarding Actions game.
Even with the changes, it's a fun way to get a more Space Wolf flavored version of my Stormwolves homebrew chapter, to contrast with the Imperial Agent Allies version.
I've also been exploring another facet of my Stormwolves, the fact that a company of them is supposed to be assigned as support for a Rogue Trader's fleet.
While I could have represented this with one of the Detachments from the Imperial Agents Codex (and still might), I realized that there were a lot of suitable units from the Imperial Guard Index and Legends Sheets, that would make good rules proxies for an army of Void Troopers serving under my Rogue Trader character.
Picked a lot of 4+ Armor Save Units comparable to the void armored troops from Imperial Agents (and a handful of 5+ to round out the list). Since I was shooting for a 1K list for this, I could only ally in one Unit of Marines, but overall, I'm happy with the list.

The UAE’s Hope probe has revealed striking details of Mars’s tiny moon Deimos, helping to indicate that the celestial body may not actually be a captured asteroid as previously thought.
New observations, including science readings and images, were released by the Emirates Mars Mission team on Monday of the smaller of the two moons that orbit the Red Planet.
The spacecraft flew as close as 100km to the moon’s surface, capturing data of its composition that challenges a long-standing theory that Mars’ moons are captured asteroids — space rocks trapped in a planet’s orbit.
Findings point to a planetary origin, meaning that the rock may have come from Mars itself.
“We are unsure of the origins of both Phobos [the larger moon of Mars] and Deimos,” Hessa Al Matroushi, the science lead of the mission, said.
“How exactly they came to be in their current orbits is also an active area of study, and so any new information we can gain on the two moons, especially the more rarely observed Deimos, has the potential to unlock new understanding of Mars’s satellites.
“Our close observations of Deimos so far point to a planetary origin rather than reflecting the composition of a type D asteroid as has been postulated.”

Black Library novel idea:
Tau Auxiliaries Local Defense Forces (and probably some Water Caste detectives/peacekeepers too) having to hunt down some squads of Loyalist Space Marines (like 2 Kill-Teams worth, and like a Lieutenant), that got stuck planet side after their (Marine) strike cruiser got destroyed during a Navel Battle (and the larger Imperial Fleet retreated).
Planet (Sif's'Soul) was a former Imperial "Feral World", with large forests and oceans. Tau easily swayed the locals, offering protection from Imperium assimilation, and access to Earth Caste medical and environmental tech to repair the damage the Admech inflicted upon the people and planet.
Imperium Strikes at the Tau expansion but only a few escape pods make it planetside, with the majority of the "Retribution Fleet" wiped out in a well practiced defense, or retreating.
Unfortunately, one of those escape pods was a Marine one, full of Phobos Bastards and a relic (chaos) that makes them (mostly) invisible to long range scanners (radar, for instance).
So it is up to a Water Caste detective named Wise-Island, a local hero Live'Free, her wife Kill'Hard, a Kroot Prodigy Optima, and others to track down the marines.
Basically, Marines as HORROR. "Bolter P■rn" from the other side, in a way.
Also look at how The Greater Good absorbs a planet culturally.

Finished up the last operatives for my Phobos Strike Team for Kill Team. I'll be doing my Intercession Squad Kill Team soon, also as Space Wolves so eventually I can field a 500 point army in big 40k if I ever bump my head and decide to play that again.

Operation Phobos
The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good. Proverbs 15:3 (ESV)
Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever? 2 Corinthians 6:14-15 (NLT)
The Righteous One knows what is going on in the homes of the wicked; he will bring disaster on them. Proverbs 21:12 (NLT)
If I say to the wicked man, ‘You will surely die,’ but you do not warn him or speak out to warn him from his wicked way to save his life, that wicked man will die in his iniquity, and I will hold you responsible for his blood. But if you warn a wicked man and he does not turn from his wickedness and his wicked way, he will die in his iniquity, but you will have saved yourself. Ezekiel 3:18-19 (BSB)
"You will bear the consequences of your lewdness and your abominations," declares the LORD. Ezekiel 16:58 (BSB)
“And now, you priests, this warning is for you. If you do not listen, and if you do not resolve to honor my name,” says the LORD Almighty, “I will send a curse on you, and I will curse your blessings. Yes, I have already cursed them, because you have not resolved to honor me." Malachi 2:1-2 (NIV)
I will not look on you with pity, nor will I spare you, but I will punish you for your ways and for the abominations among you. Then you will know that it is I, the LORD, who strikes the blow. Ezekiel 7:9 (BSB)
Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. Ephesians 5:11 (ESV)

New Light (Chapter 18) - A Destiny 2 Story
Cayde-6 x Guardian
The next day, when I walked into the Hall for our weekly Vanguard, I felt Cayde’s eyes on me as I took my spot beside him at the table. Zavala started by reviewing recent Strike missions, and what he says begins to drown out. I didn’t know what caused it, but suddenly, a cold wind washed over me, making me sway on my feet as my vision blurred for a bit. Ikora was the first to notice, raising her hand to stop Zavala.
“Ruby?” She said; I tried to step back, but my balance was gone, and I began to fall. Cayde was there instantly, catching me and walking me over to a chair so I could sit. He got down to my eye level, concern written all over his face. “Ruby, what’s wrong?” He asked as he held my hand. The whole thing sent warm shivers down my spine. As my vision returned, I shook the feeling away, and the cold wind disappeared.
“I’m fine,” I assured him, pulling my hands free and standing. “I just need a moment,” I strode out of the Hall and enjoyed the cool autumn breeze, trying to compose myself. What the hell happened to me in there? I was fine one minute; the other, I felt like someone was crushing my heart. It was so sudden then it was gone.
“Ruby, are you alright?” Stell asked as I leaned over the railing, looking out over the City.
“I should be. I don’t know what caused that. Did you register anything out of the ordinary?”
“Just an increase in heart rate. The same as if you were having a nightmare.”
“Hmmm. weird.” What could have caused me to have the symptoms of a waking nightmare?
“Ruby!” I heard and turned to see Cayde running over. “You alright? I was worried when you blanked out in there. I know Zavala can be boring, but we got to try and stay awake.” He joked but then looked to Stell, who was shaking no.
“I’m fine now, Cayde. No need to worry.” I assured him, brushing past to return to the Hall.
“Ruby, please.” He said, grabbing my arm. “I’m sorry.”
“Let me go, Cayde,” I grumbled, not turning to look at him.
“If I had the choice.”
I turned on a dime and faced him. “But you do, Cayde. You do have the choice, and you choose no. So don’t tell me to let it go. Let me move past it my way.”
He let me go, accepting defeat as I made my way back.
“Everything alright, Ruby?” Zavala asked as I took my seat.
“It’s fine,” I assured him. I was sounding like a broken record now.
“Good. While you stepped out, we got a transmission from a Cabal base on Phobos. The signal is blasting on all channels. If they are willing to break transmission silence, this could be a prelude to a full-scale assault.”
“Want me to check it out?”
“Right away. We need to know what is going on.”
“On it,” I confirmed, turning to leave and brushing past Cayde without another word. I stopped at Banshee to stock up and saw my fire team chilling out nearby.
“Ruby!” Finely yelled as he walked over with the team. “We hear congratulations are in order,” he stated, patting me on the back. I looked at him, confused. You are second in command of the Hunters now, are you not?”
I laughed. “Right. Yeah, sorry. I meant to tell you all, but I’ve been busy.” “You are busy helping run the Vanguard now we get it,” Sky said, joining in on the laughter
“Not today, I’m not. I’m on my way to Phobos to see what the Cabal is up to,” I explained as I paid Banshee and headed towards the Hangar.
“Need help?” Iroh asked, sounding interested.
“I would only be able to take Hunters since I can give them the okay to fly.” Finely and Iroh’s faces lit up.
“Give us five minutes?” Iroh asked. “Yea. I will send you the coordinates and meet you there.” The rest of the team looked jealous as the two Hunters took off to get ready.

Not much has been relatively known about Morgan herself, as he seem to have a slim amount of background prior to her becoming an Elite Four member. However, she claims to have hailed from the now abandoned Lodestar Town in Cryptid Isle, specifically before the anomalies in that island have gotten too much to handle. She also claimed that she also seen firsthand how the weirdness of that place affected most of the people, which is also one of the reasons on why the people of Lodestar Town had to be evacuated as soon as possible. Hence such background does check out.
What was clear as day however is her immense skill on raising and battling with Pokémon. The mere fact that she has Elite Four status was enough of a testament for such.

Public vs Private Knowledge
Public:
-Fairy Type specialist of the Spiran Elite Four
-Hails from the now abandoned Lodestar Town of Cryptid Isle
-Has some sort of rivalry between herself and Laura Baldwin, the Gym Leader of Grandmoss City
Private:
-Works under Team Celestial as Admin Eris, often working with Admin Phobos and Deimos
-Majority of her operations in Team Celestial involve venturing to Cryptid Isle, due to her League clearance, as well as her innate familiarity to the place, though sometimes, she also partakes in operations on the mainland
-Was directly exposed to the anomalous properties that spread to Anodyne Amusment Park. This makes her stronger than the average human, but at the cost of her mental stability. However, she is still well mannered enough that she passed off as 'sane' at best, enigmatic at worst

Conflict between Cipher and Neo Plasma
Abby’s Log 2:
“We encountered Veda in the sewers, We had to keep hidden because he is a piece of shit that not even someone like fucking Cyrus from Team Galactic would tolerate…
Grunt 196 (Mark) was on the phone to his mother, which nearly gave us away, Turned out the Iron Valiant could pick up signals, he explained his mother was doing a sneak attack, which is a relief…
We decided to fuck with the bastard by using Smokescreen spells, the old cunt was ranting and screaming, If this was to get the asshole to lose his mind, I’m going to enjoy every fucking minute of it.
Grunt 158 (T.K) then used a Smokescreen and Fire spell, 627-2 (Hana) a Ghost spell, me a Poison spell and Grunt 196 (Mark) a Fairy and Dragon spell, he dodged several attacks but the Dragon spell blew him out of the Smokescreen to see that his Iron Valiant was sliding from the Poison spell.
Me and the others including Grunt 121 (Aries) looked on in amusement at this douchebag losing it over magical spells.
It didn’t last long because he ended up seeing us and then used his whip, wrapping Grunt 196 (Mark) and pulling him towards Veda.
Grunt 121 pulled a spell card that caused a ball of light to flash Veda, It made Veda deactivate the energy weapon.
Then I saw what I thought is one of the most badass moments happen, Grunt 196 (Mark), who I have to remind is in N-faction Team Plasma.
Kicked Veda in the FUCKING JAW! Veda bit his tongue and coughed up blood and 196 immediately yelled for his mother 196-1 (Eun-min) to knock out Iron Valiant.
Veda then released a Shadow Mabostiff to attack 196-1’s Ninetales, Yeoubul, but she got him off her and used Flamethrower and one servant ordered his Hydreigon to use Focus Blast, knocking Mabostiff out.
The other bodyguard then ordered Metagross to hold Veda up high with Psychic, Then 121 used a Hypnosis spell.
For shits and giggles, 158 put Chinese cursewords on paper and taped it to Veda, however…
We had to retreat due to a Darkrai approaching, OH FUCKING SHIT! The Darkrai put 196-1’s bodyguards to sleep, thankfully they woke up soon.
121 began to panic and we immediately had to fuck off out of here, 196-1 told one of the servants to take 627-2 and leave, 627-2 had a vacant, fearless expression, Hydreigon tried to strike the Darkrai with Focus Blast but to no avail.
121 assisted by Phobos, 196’s Glaceon to seal the entrance with Ice.
Next time, bastards….

I don’t have much in the way further wisdom but this operative is more than happy to share some with his allies.
Ansem Dalis
-Incursor Minelayer- Mentors
Though considered for a mission across the Rift to contact forces in the Imperium Nihilus, instead he was given the duty of delivering Primaris technology to Watch Station Anachron. Already acquainted with operating away from his chapter and working with advanced technology in such operations as his Chapter’s battles against The Eldar in the Golance War and the widespread operations against the Orks of Charadon, Ansem was a natural fit for the Deathwatch. Eventually undergoing the Rubicon procedure himself to better train his brothers in the function of this newly developed technology. Though his condescending demeanor often necessitates the intervention of Sgt Maro to ensure the lessons have the correct impact.
The build here had one interesting challenge where I had to adjust his arm carrying the mine so it wasn’t off the base or dragging on the ground. Since its designed for a different stance and slightly higher torso. Pretty simple to handle by angling it.
For painting it was pretty simple compared to most of the others. The chapter badge is all solid color blocks and the rest of the armor is standard. The mine was fun to paint though. I got some nice practice with contrast effects over metal. I also tried my washes to see if I had a good option for the silver Deathwatch arms but Agrax was too dirty and Anthonian camoshade looked like algae. So I’ve got some Nuln on the way to wrap those up. That’s all for today, lets get more colorful liquid talk in next time. See you then.
